Ok I admit it – I'm not a millionaire yet, but I’m working towards it.
What I do have is an amazing company; a company that I’m extremely proud of, a company that builds on new sales and contracts every day, a remarkable company that sells worldwide, challenges itself and is going from strength to strength.
On the welcome page of this website is an email from RDF Television regarding The Secret Millionaire, the popular and critically acclaimed documentary series about philanthropy produced for Channel 4.
Philanthropy is the act of donating money, goods, time, or effort to support a charitable cause, usually over an extended period of time and in regard to a defined objective. In a more fundamental sense, philanthropy may encompass any altruistic activity which is intended to promote good or improve human quality of life.
Remarkably The Afro Card Company had only been in trading for 18 months when we were approached by RDF Television. This gave us a big buzz. We had not long got back from a highly successful business trip to Barbados and had just been short listed for yet another award and our PR was great, but at that time we were in no position to invest thousands of pounds in any charity.
The truth is we were busy building our foundation, so we had to refuse their offer – Can you imagine it?...turning down 60 minutes of prime time television, broadcasted to 40 million viewers? Amazingly we’ve been asked to consider appearing on next year's broadcast of The Secret Millionaire.
Ok, it's time to make our first million....but how do we go about it? A few years ago I read a fascinating book by Dee Rimmercalled 'How to unlock your full potential'. This book completely changed my life - it helped me to believe in myself, set clear defined goals, gave me a passion for life and the enthusiasm and determination to succeed.
I created a clear plan that I began working on immediately and immersed myself in achieving my goals.
I would like to share my thoughts with you but this would be much easier if we were thinking along the same lines. Over the next year I shall be reading a selection of Self-help books by Self-made millionaires - I'm going to put everything I read into action. I will also be sharing my thoughts and findings with you through my blogs and members pages.
You will need to read these books if you are to succeed. Then we can compare notes and make vital decisions that will help us make our million(s). I would like you to read all these books, not all at once mind you, commit yourself to them over the year, study the people behind them and their methods. I have already started and I believe I am on my way to making my first million.
